The Emporia State University Martial Arts Club was started in the spring of 2006. Founded by David Muhammad, the club was able to grow over the next three years and became the prominent martial arts club on campus. Open to everyone, the club included students from Japan, Korea, Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Europe. Two of the students, Jesse Tuel and Matthew Nordquist, were able to reach the level of purple belt. Now a graduate of Emporia State, David stays in touch with his students and plans to continue fostering the relationship that was created.
